A long weekend at the Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort

Forget everything you thought you knew about all-inclusive holidays. Forget the image of family package deals and budget food and accommodation, with badly behaved children loudly splashing around in an overcrowded swimming pool. Instead, picture an enormous resort with a stunning private beach with pretty cabanas and sexy over-water villas with their own over-water bar, six à la carte restaurants and a main restaurant that has an all-day, all-you-can-eat-buffet with an unfathomable amount of top quality food to choose from (or don’t choose and try a bit of everything, after all, it’s all-inclusive), beautiful interior designed bedrooms – rooms so slick they have TVs built into the mirrors, an enormous marble bathroom with his & hers sinks (and all the Bvlgari toiletries a girl could ask for), not to mention a balcony with a view over the sea and the hotel’s Olympic-sized 100-metre long swimming pool, giant Aquapark with speed slides, a pine forest adventure park with climbing wall and zipline, fabulous tennis courts, wave pool, and 18-hole floodlit manicured golf course (Europe’s only floodlit golf course, recognised as being among the world’s top 100). I mean, come on. Oh, and my favourite part? Aside from champagne flutes of crisp, cold and refreshing Prosecco being available around the clock from a large table in the very grand entrance hall (which has a waterfall, by the way), there are six bars dotted around the hotel grounds – my favourite of which is nestled in the ‘adult pool’ (child free, yesss), where you can order as many cocktails as you like, as often as you like, whilst sat waist-deep in the pool on a mosaic bar chair, soaking up the sun and sipping on your ninth frozen margherita – because hey, who’s counting? It’s all inclusive. When you’re done soaking up the sun (and cocktails), there’s top-notch evening entertainment every night and a nightclub which attracts tall and handsome football players (if that’s your thing), because aside from all of the above, the hotel also has three football fields designed to FIFA standards and a Chelsea FC football academy, as well as facilities for the training camps of professional football teams. You know, casual. Oh, and the 4,800-square-metre spa is pretty tip top too. The only down side is that eventually, the time will come when you have to leave, and trust me – you won’t want to.

Although the hotel looks and feels like it’s set somewhere tropical like the Maldives (even in late September), it’s a lot closer than you’d think – and a helluva lot less expensive. In fact, it’s a bit of bargain at just £144 per room per night.

Nestled on an immaculate white sand beach overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort is an unparalleled private resort paradise in Antalya, Turkey. Just a short flight away!

So. Ready to start lusting after your next holiday plans?

The holiday starts as soon as you land, when one of the hotel’s super swish cars picks you up from Antalya International Airport…

Then, once you’ve arrived at the hotel, your bags are taken and you’re given a glass of Prosecco or sparkling rose and a refreshing towel, whilst someone takes your details, checks you in and hands you over your room key.

And you’ll go upstairs to find something like this…

With this bathroom:

And a private balcony with this view:

And if you thought that was impressive, this isn’t even one of their best rooms. They have luxurious hotel rooms as well as four private villas plus there’s a lavishly designed and decorated three-storey 3,500-square-metre Crown Villa which the Obamas have stayed in, which is available to rent – but it won’t come cheap!

I got the chance to have breakfast at the Crown Villa, and it was absolutely jaw-droppingly beautiful.

With this private pool…

An indoor firepit…

An enormous jacuzzi bathtub in the master suite…

With an equally proportioned rain-shower…

And views overlooking the villa’s private pool, outdoor hot tub, and private outdoor bar.

The villa has it’s own cinematic TV area, conference room (because who doesn’t need their own conference room), office, gym, and even its own hammam room!

After the tour we sat down for breakfast – just a “small selection” of what was available from the main restaurant’s breakfast buffet!

The tour continued (via golf buggy – the complimentary transport offered by the hotel to help get around the enormous hotel grounds) and we were shown all the various pools and bars, including the adults pool with some pretty cool built-in seats and a bar.

After being shown around the grounds, it was finally time to relax, and we booked the biggest over-water pavilion. If there’s one thing I’d recommend you doing, it’s THIS!

You can order drinks at the pavilions’ bar, or ask a waiter to bring it directly to your sun lounger…

When it gets too hot to sunbathe, just stretch out in the shade in the pavilion, and order some more cocktails…

Or stretch out directly over the water with a book or your favourite magazine, and soak up the sun above the waves.

Needless to say, we stayed until after the sun set, and enjoyed every last ray of sunshine…

And this was only day one – a taste of what was still to come! To be continued…
