Ready for some serious beaching, we flew from Sydney into Brisbane so we could explore the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast. The view from the plane was very promising!

Once we landed, we picked up a car and drove a few hours north to Noosa Heads.

We checked in to our hotel on Hastings Street (the best location, in case you’re planning a visit!)…
… then headed downstairs for Paella and live music.

Noosa Heads has almost a South of France vibe to it, very manicured and lots of pretty boutiques.
Noosa Heads was full of well-dressed families and elegant couples sipping on blush rosés (I felt pretty jealous as was craving a drink so badly!).
Our days were mostly spent beaching…
(and how’s this for an outdoor shower!)
… but we also managed quite a few long hikes – worth it for the nature, the views from the top, and we saw wild dolphins!
After a few days in Noosa, we drove back down to Brisbane and on to Byron Bay!
Byron Bay attracted a much younger crowd and had a definite hippy vibe to it. Beaching aside, the best bits were people watching (soooo many hot surfers!), browsing the boutiques (much cheaper than in Noosa), and lunch at Balcony.
Every place in Byron had a cool vibe to it!
It was also lovely driving around the suburb a bit, as the houses (with beach views!) were seriously dreamy! We also managed another hike, this time up to a lighthouse at the top, from where we were able to spot more wild dolphins (and surfers galore)!
Beached out, it was time for the final leg of our trip – inland to spend a couple weeks in the Australian outback!
