Design crush: Studio McGee

We all have our ‘guilty’ pleasures, those secret somethings that lift our spirits when we’re feeling low, that relax us when we’re feeling stressed, and that we indulge ourselves in when we think nobody’s watching. Those pleasures that fill our time when we should be doing something else (like actual work), but can’t resist. For some, it’s chocolate. For others, cat videos, or online shopping. For me, it’s Studio McGee. It’s my happy place. It’s my crack.

Scrolling through images of their interiors is uplifting and calming. The husband-and-wife team only set up their business three years ago and already Syd and Shea McGee have built an impressive portfolio and featured in the likes of Architectural Digest, Vogue Living, House Beautiful, Domino, and Better Homes & Gardens. And what started as two people working from their kitchen is now a 30 strong team.

Needless to say, for someone who has an enormous passion for all things interiors (but still lacking the confidence to pursue it as a career), their success story is both uplifting and inspiring – not to mention the interiors. Their bright and clean aesthetic is a perfect marriage of pretty pendant lightsskinny furniture, Kilim rugs, fiddle leaf figs, basket walls, wallpapered bathroomsGray Malin photography and original abstract paintings. Just throw in some rattan baskets, ceramic table lamps, curved sofas, accent stools and sculptural ornaments and you’re  halfway there. Get Studio McGee’s look in your living room, hallway, bedroom or even your nursery or children’s bedroom (Psst! You can also shop their look here)Prepare to get some serious home decorating inspiration…
